Our planting sites

Max and Stuart at South Field

The tree planting season is almost here, and the saplings we’ve been raising from seed are ready for their permanent homes.

The year has been dry and hot thus far, so the ground is not yet moist and malleable enough for successful planting. But after more days of rain, our prospects will improve and we’ll announce planting dates at our sites in County Durham and East Sussex.

If you’re based near either site, we’d like to invite you to come and plant with us – the dates will be shared on this page as soon as they’ve been decided.

Date to be announced soon

If you’ve redeemed one of our gift cards and become a What 3 Trees sponsor, you’ll already be familiar with our planting site in County Durham. Parts of three former sheep fields are gradually being naturalised, including the planting of trees and there’s a barn where we can shelter for refreshments if the weather turns nasty!

East Sussex site

Date to be announced soon

A detailed map showing various roads, towns, and landmarks in West Sussex, England, including Henfield, Albourne, and Burgess Hill.

Our East Sussex site is a short drive out of Brighton on the A23 on a curved mound created by a local farmer to shelter his land from the noise of the traffic – the trees we plant there will complete the project. After a morning’s planting, we generally retire to a local pub for lunch.
